This is a quest for interspecies communications in a liminal space, my skin. Introducing external elements like microalgae leads to intense reactions between the microalgae, my microbiota, and skin. To witness the interrelations between all my dermal microbes and my skin, I cultivate the microbes on my skin covered by pH-sensitive squares of jelly, whose color changes with the microbial micro-reactions inside the patch. These colors are coded and translated into MIDI files and sounds.
The colors and sounds you will experience directly reflect the pH of my skin, dermal microbiota, and microalgae interactions: their conversation.
To show this part of myself, I must cut my clothes, my scientific and social layeers of identity.
